Amphenol 97E Series (Environmental)
Cylindrical Connectors
Description
The Amphenol 97E Series provides environmental sealing in the mated condition when used with the proper rear accessory hardware. Environmental sealing is accomplished with the addition of a sealing gasket in the plug interface and standard use of environmental, MIL-C-5015 type “E” backshell accessories. This includes a grommet for individual wire sealing and a backshell with clamp bars to provide axial strain relief. If the application requires the use of jacketed cable, a standard deviation, (290), in the part number callout can provide the M85049/2 type cable clamp. (See how to order information on the back side of this sheet). The incorporation of these environmental accessories will prevent moisture from entering the rear of the connector. The 97E (Environmental) Series is offered by Amphenol with the same wide variety of shell styles and insert arrangements that are available in the 97 Series, the proven, industry standard.
Connector components are fabricated from high grade aluminum alloy, with a conductive cadmium plate finish and an olive drab chromate after-treatment. Some cable clamps are a zinc alloy with an olive drab/green chromate finish. See how to order page 21 for other finish variations. Contacts are silver plated with pre-tinned solder cups. Optional gold over silver plating is also available. Inserts for solder style contacts are diallyl-phthalate.
