Coaxial contacts for all popular series of cylindrical and many rectangular connectors. Designed to provide shielding protection and RF/microwave performance for various RF and special cable types. Standardized diameters (sizes 4, 8, 12 and 16) facilitate interchangeability with standard power contacts. Coaxial contacts are designed to eliminate discontinuities or impedance variations due to movement of parts under axial load. Impedance matched options are available in sizes 8 and 12.
These contacts provide the shielding protection, and in many cases the RF/ microwave performance, needed in the circuitry of many applications. All popular series of cylindrical connectors and many rectangular connectors are available with coax contacts. Diameters are standardized in sizes 4, 8, 12 and 16 so that coaxial contacts may be interchanged with power contacts in connector insert arrangements which include those sizes. Popular RG cable types and a variety of other commercial coaxial cables can be accommodated.
Matched impedance size 12 coax contacts are also available. The use of coax contacts within a connector, compared to the use of individual coaxial/shielded connectors, offers advantages of savings in space and weight and no cross-mating difficulties. Coax and standard contacts may be mixed within the connector to meet special signal needs. The connector itself offers further protection and environmental integrity through the grommets and seals used, and coaxial junction is protected by the connector outer shell.
