Description

MIL-C-28840 was developed to meet the Navy’s requirement for crimp front release contact connectors for shipboard signal applications. These connectors are environmentally sealed and completely fluid resistant.

MIL-C-28840 miniature circular connectors, meets high density, high shock circular connector requirements that meet and exceed most demanding environmental and RFI / EMI shielding requirements. Fluorosilicone rubber sealing provides fluid immersion protection. This series of connectors can be used with either discrete wires or jacketed cable. You have an option of ordering connectors with or without backshells. Principal use is for U.S. Navy electronic equipment applications.

Features & Benefits

• RFI / EMI Shielding – RFI/EMI suppression is obtained by means of the spring fingers located in the plug. Additionally, a metal to metal bonding occurs when accessories are attached to the rear of the connector through a unique spline and ramp design system.
• Quick Engagement – Double lead-rapid threads provide quick engagement and disengagement of the connector in 2 1/2 turns.
• Scoop Proof – 100% scoop proof protection on all connectors prevents bent pins and inadvertent electrical contact whether the pins are mounted in the plug or the receptacle.
• High Density – Maximum contact density is achieved without sacrificing the rugged design required for high shock and vibration while maintaining connector size to a minimum.
• Multiple Keying – Locksmith keying arrangement allows for alternate insert positions preventing the possibility of mismating
• Standard Contacts – Contact size 20 (M39029) is used in all inserts.
• High Density – 9 shell sizes and 9 insert configurations with a maximum number of 155 size 20 contacts.
